Description
The Schafberglauf St. Wolfgang (Austria) is a truly unique running event held under the motto "Man vs. Steam Locomotive." You will be racing against the SchafbergBahn with the goal of reaching the Schafbergspitze station at an altitude of 1,730 meters. This makes the Schafberglauf particularly suitable for extreme athletes looking for a very special challenge. The current course record stands at 43:03 minutes.
Overall, the Schafberglauf course is only 7.2 km long, but within this short distance, you will have to conquer a demanding 1,190 meters of elevation gain. Some sections feature inclines of up to 26%, making this an incredible feat of strength that should not be taken lightly. The course itself is also quite spectacular, offering everything from lush green alpine meadows to sheer rock faces—guaranteed to make the hearts of mountain runners and trail runners beat faster.
